この新たな解析によると、年齢、喫煙状況、増悪歴、COPD重症度および吸入ステロイド(ICS)使用歴に関わりなく、すべての増悪(軽度、中等度および重度)の発現回数を一貫して減少させることが実証されました。
特に重度のCOPD症状を有する患者さんにおいて、吸入ステロイド(ICS)/LABAに比較して増悪回数を有意に減少させ、健康状態を改善しました。
さらに、「ウルティブロ」を使用する患者さんでは、日中のレスキュー薬の必要度が低減されました。
ERS2016で公表予定のデータは、ホルモンの自然産生を調節するアドレナリン機能の障害である全身的作用の低減に関連していたことも示しました。
「ウルティブロ」の使用がICS/LABA併用に比べて有意に低い肺炎症例数に関連していたことが、すでに明らかにされています 。
COPD患者ではCOPD非有病者と比較して肺炎リスクがより高いこと、そしてそのリスクはICSを服用している(用量の多・少に関わらず)患者の場合、さらに顕著に高いことが明らかにされました。
実際、COPDに罹患していなくとも、ICSを服用している人は肺炎のリスクが高まり、両者の相互関係がさらに実証されました。
