In the late 1980s and early 1990s, concern about the public debt reached its peak. The national debt clock was installed, and Ross Perot ran the most successful independent presidential campaign in the past century focused largely on debts and deficits. But then China and the post-Soviet Union region opened up to the world, and the resulting offshoring and globalization sparked all sorts of disinflation. Interest rates fell, and so U.S. interest expense relative to the size of the economy dropped by a lot, even as debt/GDP continued to head higher. The lesson that many people took from that era, by the time we reached the 2010s and early 2020s, is that deficits don't really matter. All those people worrying about the deficit were viewed as wrong. And so, the *lack* of concern about public debt reached its peak. But that's also when four decades of falling interest rates hit zero and started going sideways. And so, the falling-rate offset to ever-higher public debt growth is no longer there now. Globalization is slowing down, and putting more frictions back into global supply chains. The pendulum is swinging in the other direction. Lyn Alden

"Well, I think the biggest mistake is not learning the habits of saving properly early. Because saving is a habit. And then, trying to get rich quick. It's pretty easy to get well-to-do slowly. But it's not easy to get rich quick."

President Donald J. Trump Likewise Bob Costello, and all of his direct and irrefutable knowledge, why was he so horribly treated and completely shut down by the Conflicted Judge, and why were his Emails and Text Messages not allowed to be shown…And then, of course, there’s the BIGGEST EVENT OF THEM ALL, but I’m not allowed to talk about it because I’m under an illegal and unconstitutional GAG ORDER. This is the Biden White House at work. ELECTION INTERFERENCE!

I posted this on the day the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago after Merrick Garland ordered it and gave the green light to kill anyone that stood in the way. The FBI stole Pres Trump’s passport, financial records, and medical records along with confiscating documents that NARA had approved, packed, and delivered to MAL. The FBI then staged the scene and took pictures that Jack Smith wrongfully used in court to frame Pres Trump in the fake documents lawfare case, while giving Biden a full pass on his decades worth of classified docs all over the place including sloppily by his corvette in his garage that anyone could steal. @RepMTG Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene https://t.me/RepMTG/2550 1/2

This is grounds for impeachment of Wray and Garland. Trump and team was cooperating the entire time with the FBI. Was deadly force authorized against Biden for his docs? Were they going to shoot SS then Pres Trump, Melania, and Barron too??? Speaker Mike Johnson fully funded the DOJ and FBI plus new building and tied our hands behind our backs to hold them accountable. We have the power of the purse and Johnson has handed the purse to Chuck Schumer. All of this is unforgivable. @RepMTG Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene https://t.me/RepMTG/2547HA

On regulation, Dimon said, "They make it seem like we're a hedge fund." He said regulation is "damaging America at this point." He continued on the regulation rant, indicating how overregulation has already forced some customers to exit the banking system. Dimon then commented on artificial intelligence, suggesting it will impact almost every job at JPM. Back to markets, he expects another market panic someday. Potentially, that's why he's saving the dry powder of buybacks for that day. On monetary policy, the bank exec said: "I'm cautiously pessimistic. We have the most complicated geopolitical situation that most of us have seen since World War II, if you study history. We don't really know the full effect of QT. I find it mysterious that, somehow, it had this beneficial effect, but it's not going to have a negative effect when it goes away. I personally think inflation is a little bigger than people think and that rates may surprise people."

Dimon then commented on credit markets, saying, "Investment-grade credit spread will be dead wrong too," adding, "It's just a matter of time." His comments about the credit markets followed a Bloomberg interview last week in which he warned that higher interest rates and possibly stagflation could spark problems in the commercial real estate sector, leveraged firms, and private credit. "If you have higher rates and — God forbid — stagflation, you will see stress in real estate and leveraged companies, and private credit," Dimon said last Thursday. Dimon confirmed again, "We're not going to buy back stock now." He noted buybacks will come into play when the stock goes back down.
