Dimon then commented on credit markets, saying, "Investment-grade credit spread will be dead wrong too," adding, "It's just a matter of time." His comments about the credit markets followed a Bloomberg interview last week in which he warned that higher interest rates and possibly stagflation could spark problems in the commercial real estate sector, leveraged firms, and private credit. "If you have higher rates and — God forbid — stagflation, you will see stress in real estate and leveraged companies, and private credit," Dimon said last Thursday. Dimon confirmed again, "We're not going to buy back stock now." He noted buybacks will come into play when the stock goes back down.

Will AT&T Increase Its Dividend This Year? https://finance.yahoo.com/news/t-increase-dividend-091500741.html stock will start rallying once interest rates come down AT&Tの株をその上昇が始まる前に買っておくことでより多くの見返りを手にすることができるだろう。 buying shares of AT&T before that happens could help you secure better returns AT&Tの財務はずっと良くなっており、長期投資にもってこいの事業体制になっている。 financials are in much better shape and the business should make for a solid long-term investment

At its high of the day, the blue-chip average reached 40,051.05, the culmination of a bull market that began in October 2022. The index had neared the 40,000 mark earlier this year before a slight April pullback on worries about high interest rates knocked it back down. The rally was rekindled in May on the back of strong earnings and some soft inflation readings. (CNBC)

The JPMorgan Chase & Co. chief executive officer said significant price pressures are still influencing the US economy and may mean interest rates will be higher for longer than many investors are expecting. Dimon cited costs linked to the green economy, re-militarization, infrastructure spending, trade disputes and large fiscal deficits. “There are a lot of inflationary forces in front of us,” Dimon said in an interview on Bloomberg Television Thursday. “The underlying inflation may not go away the way people expect it to.”

Shocking stat of the day: US net interest payments as a percentage of federal revenues are set to reach 34% by 2054. This means that ONE THIRD of all government revenue would be spent only to service the national debt. Over the past 8 years, the percentage has already doubled to ~15% and is at its highest in 3 decades. Meanwhile, nominal annualized interest payments have crossed above $1 trillion for the first time ever. We could see $1.6 trillion in annual interest expense by the end of the year if the Fed leaves rates steady. The US government needs lower interest rates more than anyone.

Builders FirstSource, one of the hottest stocks of the past year, is getting hammered after reporting a 22.5% decline in first-quarter profit, a sign that high borrowing costs are beginning to slow residential construction. Shares of the building products supplier have stood out among chip makers and tech firms atop the S&P 500 despite the highest interest rates in a generation. They dropped more than 15% today and are on track for their worst day since the March 2020 Covid crash.

Takeda out For…
2024/05/24 21:03
Takeda out For its part, Takeda recently scaled back its cell therapy pipeline in a cull that saw TAK-102 discontinued. The project had been licensed from the Japanese group Noile-Immune Biotech in 2017, and Takeda put it into phase 1. The abstract of an ASCO poster on TAK-102 details those phase 1 data, and while there are also no DLTs or neurotoxicity there aren’t any responses either, the best result among 11 solid tumour patients being stable disease. TAK-102, which after Takeda's discontinuation remains in Noile-Immune's pipeline as NIB102, is also “armoured”, but encodes IL-7 and CCL20 rather than TGFβRIIDN. The ASCO data might also be of interest to Gilead, which in an April 2022 oncology deep dive presented the Car-T therapy KITE-509, which targets GPC3 and also blocks the TGFβ signal. However, despite Gilead promising clinical trials “in the near future” these have yet to materialise. https://www.oncologypipeline.com/apexonco/asco-2024-preview-new-car-t-target-shows-liver-cancer-promise
