Takeda out For its part, Takeda recently scaled back its cell therapy pipeline in a cull that saw TAK-102 discontinued. The project had been licensed from the Japanese group Noile-Immune Biotech in 2017, and Takeda put it into phase 1. The abstract of an ASCO poster on TAK-102 details those phase 1 data, and while there are also no DLTs or neurotoxicity there aren’t any responses either, the best result among 11 solid tumour patients being stable disease. TAK-102, which after Takeda's discontinuation remains in Noile-Immune's pipeline as NIB102, is also “armoured”, but encodes IL-7 and CCL20 rather than TGFβRIIDN. The ASCO data might also be of interest to Gilead, which in an April 2022 oncology deep dive presented the Car-T therapy KITE-509, which targets GPC3 and also blocks the TGFβ signal. However, despite Gilead promising clinical trials “in the near future” these have yet to materialise. https://www.oncologypipeline.com/apexonco/asco-2024-preview-new-car-t-target-shows-liver-cancer-promise

Medical workers in Israel have told the BBC that Palestinian detainees from Gaza are routinely kept shackled to hospital beds, blindfolded, sometimes naked, and forced to wear nappies – a practice one medic said amounted to “torture”. A whistle-blower detailed how procedures in one military hospital were “routinely” carried out without painkillers, causing “an unacceptable amount of pain” to detainees. Another whistle-blower said painkillers were used “selectively” and “in a very limited way” during an invasive medical procedure on a Gazan detainee in a public hospital. He also said critically ill patients being held in makeshift military facilities were being denied proper treatment because of a reluctance by public hospitals to transfer and treat them. One detainee, taken from Gaza for questioning by the Israeli army and later released, told the BBC his leg had to be amputated because he was denied treatment for an infected wound.(BBC) (Google翻訳) ゴキラエルの医療従事者はBBCに対し、ガザ地区のパレスチナ人被拘禁者は日常的に病院のベッドに鎖でつながれ、目隠しをされ、時には裸にされ、おむつを着けさせられていると語った。

An initial planned interim analysis was conducted after 125 patients were evaluable for a response. The IDMC recommended continuing the study without change but requested another interim analysis when 200 patients were evaluable.
