To the Management of Intercept Pharmaceuticals:
Combining MN-001 with MediciNova's MNOV® MN-001 may offer a breakthrough in our current stalemate.

About MN-001 (tipelukast)
MN-001 is a novel, orally administered small molecule compound with multiple mechanisms of action. Its primary mechanisms of action include leukotriene receptor antagonism, inhibition of phosphodiesterases (PDEs, primarily PDE-3 and PDE-4), and inhibition of 5-lipoxygenase. Through these multiple mechanisms, it is known to exert anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic effects via the 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO) pathway.
In our previous clinical trials, we found that MN-001 reduces blood triglycerides (TG). In a Phase 2 clinical trial targeting patients with NASH (non-alcoholic steatohepatitis) or NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease) who presented with high triglyceride levels, lipid profiles other than triglycerides were also improved. While the direct mechanism behind this improvement in blood lipid profiles has not been fully elucidated, we are conducting joint research with academia to clarify the mechanism in detail.
MN-001 is a "powerful add-on/base-correcting drug" that fundamentally repairs the metabolic foundation that has been damaged by inflammation and fibrosis, making it possible to treat refractory patients who are resistant to existing star drugs such as GLP-1 and SGLT2.
That's all.
