He has invested billions of dollars in a rocketry firm, Blue Origin, devoted to the industrialisation of space."

The Economist記事。ベゾスのブルー・オリジン社が目指し、『機動戦士ガンダム』の世界観の設定の元ネタにもなった、地球の静止軌道上にスペースコロニーを配置するというオニール教授の提唱した計画は、もともとは、環境に影響のある産業を地球外で運営させることで地球への環境負荷を無くすという意図があったようですね。
