3月の話になりますが、豪州の『9News』と言う超有名ニュースサイトに、CMAXで行われとる高血圧DNAワクチンの治験に関する好意的な記事が掲載されました。当時訳した文章をここに載せましたが、ご参考までに再度投稿しておきますね。

アデレードの治験担当者は高血圧DNAワクチンが『大きな可能性』を秘めていると言及。高血圧症で苦しんでいる30歳以上の人々は現在毎日薬を服用する事を余儀なくされている。しかしCMAXラボ(高血圧DNAワクチンの治験先)の専門家は高血圧DNAワクチン接種によって血圧を下げる抗体が産生される可能性が高いと考えている。シャキブ教授は「高血圧DNAワクチンの接種は年1回〜2回で済む」と述べ「高血圧DNAワクチン接種は現在主流の降圧薬による治療法に代わる『より長期的な代替療法』であり、高血圧症の為だけじゃなく様々な合併症や慢性疾患の発症防止に役立つ(降圧薬のように飲み忘れによるリスクがない為)」と期待している。

Adelaide researchers trialling a vaccine for high blood pressure have said the treatment has “huge potential”. People suffering from the condition, common in those over 30 years old, are currently forced to take daily medication. Now experts at the city’s CMAX lab believe an injection could produce antibodies that help to lower blood pressure. Professor Sepehr Shakib said the injection would occur once or twice a year, with the expectation it may be a longer lasting alternative to current treatments.
“The potential is huge, not just for high blood pressure but for a number of other chronic diseases,” Prof. Shakib said.
